Custom Error Pages
Find out what a Custom Error Page is, what role does it serve and ways to create one.
Each time a page on your site doesn't load, an error message shall be displayed to the site visitor. Since there are different errors, there are different pages that will appear, but what is common for all of them is that they're generic and probably will have nothing that is similar to the layout of your website, which can be irritating for any site visitor. This is the primary reason why website hosting companies have introduced a feature referred to as Custom Error Pages. For a number of different errors, visitors will see your customized content, which could be informative or witty, in accordance with your choice, and that will match the design of your website, so the pages shall not appear as if they are not part of your Internet site at all. You can use this option for a variety of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).
Custom Error Pages in Shared Hosting
You can set up customized error pages for each of your domains or subdomains. The feature is supported by all shared hosting
plans which we provide, so once you log in to your Hepsia Control Panel and visit the Hosted Domains section, you can easily click on the Edit button for a domain/subdomain and in the pop-up which will be displayed, you could select the sort of error page which should appear - a default one from our system, a conventional Apache web server page or a custom one. For the aforementioned alternative, you must specify the URL to the page, so if you use customized pages, you need to upload the files in your web hosting account first. One other way is to use an .htaccess file located in the domain or subdomain folder with a line for each and every error type. The actual syntax can be found in our Knowledge Base, to help you use this feature even if you don't have any previous experience.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
Adding your personal pages for any of the 4 error types to any Internet site hosted from a semi-dedicated server
account with us will be really basic and won't take more than a couple of mouse clicks. After you upload the files in your account, you can go to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and edit any of the domains and subdomains listed there using an intuitive interface with drop-down menus. You could choose what page should appear for each and every error type. Your options are a default Apache web server page or a page from our system, and tailor-made pages. In case you select the abovementioned option, you have to type in the link to each page inside your account, then save the change. The link or the type of page that appears when a user encounters an error can be modified whenever you want. In case you are more experienced, you could use an .htaccess file in order to set customized error pages too, as an alternative to using our integrated generator tool, and if you pick this option, the file has to be positioned in the root directory of a particular domain or subdomain.
